The only thing good about this place is the furniture and location. The steak came out lukewarm warm with no flavor. The waiter took 15 mins just to get our water and drink order then never returned until we were done eating 50 mins later. Took an hour just to get food, and the food was so underwhelming. Would never recommend you speak the money on this place. We left more than half our ribeye it was that bad.

We had an absolutely amazing dinner at Amalfi Llama in San Diego for a kid free date night, and it exceeded every expectation. From the moment we sat down, our server went above and beyond. His demeanor was the perfect match for the restaurant’s atmosphere professional, warm, knowledgeable, and he was attentive without ever feeling intrusive. Rodrigo truly elevated the entire evening and made it such a memorable dining experience. We started by sharing the Caesar salad, and it was incredible. The rich Parmesan was perfectly balanced, creating one of the best Caesar salads we’ve had. Following Rodrigo’s recommendation, we ordered the crab cakes and we’re so glad we did. They were honestly some of the best we’ve ever tasted. Packed with fresh crab and very little filler or unnecessary breading, they let the quality of the seafood shine. For our entrée, we had the prime rib with the trio of sauces, paired with the sautéed mushrooms which was cooked perfectly and incredibly flavorful. One thing we really appreciated was how clean and fresh everything tasted. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared with high quality ingredients. I decided to try this place through Uber Eats, so I’m not sure if the experience is better dining in. I ordered the Margherita pizza, expecting something light, fresh, and flavorful, but it ended up being pretty underwhelming. The pizza was bland and didn’t really stand out. The best part was the crust—it had a nice crunch with crispy edges that I really enjoyed. The sauce was decent, but something about the pizza, whether it was the sauce or the cheese, gave me heartburn. I’ve had pizza from other places several times this past week without any issues, so that was disappointing. Overall, I’ll be sticking with my usual pizza spots. Based on this experience, I don’t think the Margherita pizza is worth it in terms of flavor. That said, I can’t speak for the rest of their menu—they may have other dishes that are much better. I’m only reviewing the pizza I tried.

As for how my ratings work, 3 stars being: you did your job; they did their jobs. Nothing to go out of your way for. I was super excited to try a restaurant that's new to me. I can't say I was disappointed because it was exactly what I come now to expect. I was hoping to be proven different. You going to a fancy (high end/priced) restaurant for the atmosphere, not so much the food. The best thing was the off menu meatball with Calabrian chili sauce appetizer. Served super warm so much flavor. Yum. I maybe paid $20? I'd go back for that. Everything else I ordered was just ok. I also ordered the short rib empanadas ($20) with a side of their chimichurri sauce. I'm used to an Argentinian chimichurri being bright with lemon, garlic, mostly parsley (even sometimes with mint) peppers, olive oil and that snap of salt. Theirs was not that. No punch. The empanadas; the meat was good but the shell was thin and hard like it was sitting under a heat lamp. So the chimichurri didn't add anything. Lastly, my entrée was the Melamessi. $49 again under seasoned. Our server seemed uninterested in helping with menu recommendations but the issue was the wait and the portion size of the salmon. We waited close to an hour for a lobster roll and a Caesar salad with salmon. Adding a salmon filet to the $19 Caesar salad was an additional $16.99. That’s fine but was surprised when I saw the salmon was about half the size of a typical salmon filet at other restaurants. It felt significantly overpriced for the size.
